WiSTEM at ASU is committed to introducing women at ASU to a variety of mentors, professionals and other women who can act as resources in our fields. We understand the imperative need to bridge the gap of information for those who are first-generation college students, low-income or minority backgrounds, etc. and are trying to make waves in STEM fields. We strive to ensure diversity of experience and backgrounds, academic & cultural, when choosing speakers for panels or guest speaking events!
Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biomedical Engineering ASU PhD-Candidate students to provide insight on the graduate school process and to introduce our speakers in an array of PhD programs at ASU.
Dr. Wike shared her academic and personal journey to her current position as the Manager of the START program.
Claire Michael, previously a part of ASU’s Career Services team, demonstrated how to create an effective resume for future jobs and professional schools.
Katarina White of Boeing presented on how she got into the field of engineering and the details of her work in Phantom Works. She shared her inspiring story as a woman in STEM and gave our members great pointers on navigating in a male-dominated field.
We collaborated with ASU’s Healthcare Preparatory Club to host an all-female speaker panel in several healthcare fields: MD, Nurse Practitioner, Occupational Therapy, and Pharmacy.
